Praying for our enemies

Matthew 5:43-48

1. Love our enemies (v.43-44a)

   Martin Luther King: " is to discover the element of good in his enemy, and every time you begin to hate that person and think of hating that person, realize that there is some good there and look at those good points which will over-balance the bad points.”

   On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.    Romans 12:20-21

2. Pray for our enemies (v.44-45)
3. Prayer changes our hearts together(v.46-48)

   Could we with ink the ocean fill,
   And were the skies of parchment made;
   Were every stalk on earth a quill,
   And every man a scribe by trade;
   To write the love of God above
   Would drain the ocean dry;
   Nor could the scroll contain the whole,
   Though stretched from sky to sky.
